February 2017 has been a forward-looking and trendsetting month for the DEXPI initiative.
On Wednesday, the 22nd, thirty managers of BASF, Bayer, Evonik, Air Liquide, Autodesk, Siemens, Intergraph, Aveva, X-Visual, eVision, TU-Berlin and AixCAPE came together to discuss the current status of the DEXPI initiative and define the roadmap for the future.
At the annual meeting of the working ProcessNet party for “computer aided plant design” (“Rechnergestützte Anlagenplanung”), DEXPI could gain a great attention by the auditorium. Michael Wiedau (Evonik Technology and Infrastructure GmbH) presented on the current implementation status of the DEXPI information models in the CAE software tools.
The latest DEXPI meeting in Frankfurt at the DECHEMA has been a great success.
The DEXPI group has discussed the new Equipment Data Model which will be published in the next version of the DEXPI specification.
We have prepared the next presentation at the FIATECH Showcase & Conference, 12. April 2017 in Orlando, Florida, USA.
The next DEXPI-Hackathon will take place at the INTERGRAPH offices near Munich, Germany, 14-16. March 2017. Main topic is the implementation of the DEXPI Instrumentation model in the software tools of the CAE vendors.
Fiatech Board Chair Jim Purvis and Autodesk’s Reiner Meyer-Roessl discuss industry data standards at Autodesk University 2016. DEXPI and Fiatech are working to provide an interoperable P&ID standard based on the ISO15925 and Proteus Schema standard.
Richard Welke (BASF SE) gave a highly informative and visionary impression about the DEXPI initiative at the “Prozess-, Apparate- und Anlagentechnik” conference in Karlsruhe, Germany on 15th of October 2016.

Reiner Meyer-Rössl presented the current status of the DEXPI initiative at the Fiatech 2016 Technology Conference & Showcase in Austin, TX, USA.
DEXPI – eine Initiative der drei großen Prozessindustrieunternehmen BASF, Bayer Technology Services und Evonik – will endlich das Kompatibilitätsproblem von CAE-Applikationen lösen. DEXPI (Data Exchange in the Process Industry) arbeitet dabei zusammen mit den führenden internationalen CAE-Firmen, der internationalen ISO-Community und Forschungseinrichtungen an Lösungen auf Basis der ISO 15926. Der erste große Meilenstein – der komplette, intelligente R&I-Austausch – ist nun greifbar nahe: Alle notwendigen Konzepte und Implementierungen basierend auf ISO 15926 liegen vor. Die CAE-Firmen arbeiten intensiv an entsprechenden Export- und Importschnittstellen. Ein erstes Software-Release ist für Anfang 2016 angekündigt.
RWTH Aachen University (process systems engineering, Aachener Verfahrenstechnik) and AixCAPE e.V. hosted the 3rd DEXPI Hackathon in Aachen, Germany.
Around 25 developers, engineers, researchers and managers from CAE vendors, industry and academia participated in this 3-days event in February 2016.
